In 2016 I moved from a small New England town to Pittsburgh. This was the best move I’ve made since leaving Rhode Island in 1972. I’m delighted with the city. More, I’m delighted that I was courageous, as I was when I was a young woman. I came alone, pretty scared, but I settled in. My living is made as a professional writer/consultant. I also write creative nonfiction and prose poetry. My subjects are often place, nature, spirituality, disability (I’m hard of hearing), simple living. The past. A strange thing about aging, for me, is the emergence of a quiet joy—not every day, but most days. It’s hard won, and I treasure it.
